How many times did we stop just a bit short of achieving something we sought for so much just because we felt that we just can’t do it? Mental Barriers exist within most of us, I see it as a sort of “Comfort Zone Protection Procedure” whose main function is keep you from trying anything that may strain you mentally or physically, or in other words takes out of your comfort zone.
You’d be surprised to know that whenever you feel that can not continue that last mile in your jog or finish that last repetition in your workout that it is most likely your mind stopping you not your body, one must -however- learn to distinguish between muscle failure, actual fatigue and physical exhaustion and the Mental Barrier, The actual limitation to exert the physical effort seem but not feel the same.
When you experience the Mental Barrier you’d feel the thought of giving up getting bigger in your mind making you wanting to end at 8 instead of 10 while the actual fatigue manifests as growing pain and inability to mechanically sustain the activity for a longer period of time, an attempt to continue beyond actual fatigue may result in serious injury and caution must be exercised.
Back to Last night’s progress:
A good 2 interval cardio training for a total of 45 mins, in addition to some squats and rope skips, no weight training was attempted as of yet, I plan to resume weight workout on Tuesday if the shoulder heals as good as I hope.
